QR Code Scanner
QR Code Scanner is a fast, lightweight, and open-source Android app for scanning QR codes and common barcode formats. You can scan codes live with your device camera or select an existing image from your device using Android Photo Picker.
The app supports QR Code, Aztec, Data Matrix, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, ITF, and PDF417 formats. Recent scan results are saved locally on your device for easy access, and you can copy, open, share, or clear them at any time.
Scanning is processed locally on your device. QR Code Scanner does not require an account, does not contain advertising, and does not upload your scanned content to ThinApps. The app is entirely open source, and its source code is available for inspection on GitHub.

QR Code Scanner is developed by ThinApps.
QR Code Scanner uses camera access for live QR code and barcode scanning. Camera frames and images selected through Android Photo Picker are processed on your device to detect supported QR codes and barcodes. The app does not upload or retain camera frames or selected images. During scanning, QR Code Scanner does not upload detected scan contents to ThinApps or Google.
The app automatically stores up to the 50 most recent unique accepted scan results, together with their timestamps, in private local app storage. Scanning the same value again refreshes its existing history entry, and older entries are removed automatically when the limit is reached. You can delete all saved history using Clear All History or by uninstalling the app. Android cloud backup is disabled for QR Code Scanner. On some Android 12 or later devices, Android may still transfer local app data directly to a new device during device setup. ThinApps does not receive, sell, or share your scan contents or local history.
The app uses Google’s bundled ML Kit Barcode Scanning SDK. The scanning model is included with the app, so QR code and barcode scanning work without an internet connection. According to Google’s published SDK disclosure, ML Kit collects limited technical data including device and application information, a per-installation identifier, performance metrics, API configuration, feature input and output size, feature version, event types, and error codes for diagnostics and usage analytics. Google states that this data is encrypted in transit and is not transferred to third parties. Google’s published disclosure does not list camera frames, selected images, detected scan contents, or local scan history among the data collected by ML Kit.
QR code and barcode scanning work without an internet connection. The app has no accounts, advertising, cloud storage, or analytics service operated by ThinApps.
Copy, Open, and Share occur only when you choose them. Copy places the selected scan result on Android’s system clipboard, where it may be accessible to Android and other apps permitted to read clipboard contents. Open passes a supported web address to a compatible app selected by you or Android; that app and any website or service it contacts may receive and process the address. Share passes the selected result through Android’s system share sheet to the app or service you choose.
Once a result is passed outside QR Code Scanner, it is handled according to the privacy practices of the receiving app, website, or service.
